Tales from the bus. Missed….

Many of my longsuffering readers know that I am a bus driver and driver trainer for the local school district.  Previously, I have blogged a few posts related to work and theological lessons from interactions on the job…..  Grouped as ‘Tales from the bus,’ this is another such missive.

Lately, we have been critically short of drivers due to a number of irrelevant factors.  Long story short, several driver’s recent bouts with a stomach bug has left us scrambling each day to get children home.  Routes are being piecemealed between drivers who are willing to pull double duty or drive sections that border their normal routes, then a couple staff members in the office get to pick up the rest.  “Adventure” would be an understatement.

This afternoon I was assigned two short elementary routes that I whipped out before racing to the high school to pick up two routes of high schoolers.  To keep from confusing the elementary students, I used their bus, but placed large prominent numbers on the bus for the two high school routes.  The signs clearly said, ‘1 & 5‘. Who dares, wins!!

Colonel David Stirling, founder of the British SAS, pioneered the modern military understanding and employment of special forces personnel.  His mix of highly trained very small units operating audaciously in an unconventional manner led to very high success rates in facing off the Germans in WWII.  Stirling is credited with the SAS motto, ‘Who Dares, Wins!’

RLTWWell readers, lately I (and others near me) have taken flak from a couple quarters for being willing to associate myself (ourselves) with individuals some would regard as the enemy.  So, as a note of reassurance and as a warning that there will be rock throwers on this journey, I want to tell you, ‘Who dares, wins!!’  (Another, and more dear way to say this is ‘Rangers Lead The Way!!)

Christendom has a long history of throwing Judah under the bus and trying to force them to minimally see things ‘our way,’ or worse, convert to Christianity, leaving the ‘antiquated Torah’ behind. Even today, there are many in the Messianic that haven’t figured out that 1800+ years of failed Christian mission to the Jews has NOT produced good fruit.  Maybe, just maybe, it is time to rethink our approach.  And, for acting on that conviction, I/we dodge eggs and rocks.

One of the recent egg throwing episodes was shared with me this morning and honestly, my reaction was to laugh.  Considering the host of one show had only to Google ‘Pete Rambo’ and have my name come up as the top five hits, it is instructive to note that he prefers throwing stones to doing simple research.  He gives himself away in the first twenty seconds of this clip Continue reading “Who dares, wins!!”

Two House… Unavoidable conclusion.

image

Twice in the last couple days I have run into well-meaning individuals who denigrated the ‘Two House’ understanding of Scripture.

I realize, God has to open eyes and bring understanding, but at the same time, it is frustrating to deal with people who haven’t even taken the time to do something very simple:

-take a sheet of paper
-divide it into two columns
-label one column Continue reading “Two House… Unavoidable conclusion.”

Sowing and reaping….

image

I have just started reading Angus Wooten’s Restoring Israel’s Kingdom, a book that promises to deepen my understanding of who I am and what my Father’s business is.

In the comments on the cover credit (artwork of the two sticks being made one, Ez. 37:15ff), I saw a neat paradigm shifting idea: the house of Israel was scattered into the nations for disobedience.  If they were sown as Israelites, what makes us think they’ll be harvested as anything other than Israelites?

In fact, the Scriptures attest, over and over, that God’s intent is to restore the whole house of Israel.  See Acts 1:8; Ez. 37:24ff; Deu. 30; Is. 2:1-5; Eph. 2:12, etc…

If God will harvest Israelites, what might they look like??  Hmmmm…

Got Torah?

The Gospel I never preached…

I spent more than 10 years in the pulpit and I am realizing I never really preached the Gospel.  Oh, I taught the death, burial and resurrection of the Messiah, but that is preacher silhouettenot the Gospel.  Surprised?

Rom. 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

Multiple Scriptures testify to the fact that the Gospel existed before the coming of the expected Messiah.

Gal. 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

And, from Hebrews,

Heb. 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

We also have multiple references of Yeshua preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom before His death….  Continue reading “The Gospel I never preached…”

Stunning rainbow…

image

Two days ago, I witnessed what was easily the most stunning rainbow I have ever seen.  My camera phone does not do it justice.  It was so close and so vivid the tree it appears to come from literally looked like it was on fire.  Amazing!!

I cannot look at a rainbow, though, without remembering the Sabbath.  God uses EXACTLY the same terminology when He gives the Covenant of the Sabbath as He does with the Covenant of the Rainbow.

Each of those covenants promise that He will DO something.  Rainbow = no flood, Sabbath = sanctify the keeper.  Both are FOREVER.  The Rainbow nor the Sabbath ever change.  (In fact, a great study is the word ‘olam’ meaning ‘forever’ and where God uses it…. You may be surprised that Passover and the Feasts are… forever, regardless of doctrine or theology to the contrary.
