The Global Fertility Crash

Two or three evenings ago, my eldest son read some information to me regarding the growing global fertility crisis. He is working on his Masters level degree as a Nurse Practitioner and is immersed in all things health related, so his interest being peaked by a report on fertility rates crashing was no surprise.

We had an excellent discussion about the relationship between the fertility rate and the rate at which women embrace the God-ordained role of bearing children and caring for the home instead of pursuing education and careers. I further explained that reversing this and walking according to Scripture in the whole area of patriarchy, family structure and marriage is imperative for the restoration of kol Israel. (Did I mention this blog has a whole series on the subject?)

Prophecy blindness?

Kelly and I are back in the Land, aka Israel, for the next three glorious weeks. We are blessed to have the opportunity to lead the Ani Yosef Sukkot trip and to attend a couple small conferences concerning the restoration of Israel.

After a late start this morning due to little sleep while traveling we headed out for a several hour hike out of the moshav and through a part of the Hakedoshim Forest. The ‘Forest of the Holy Ones.’

We walked and talked. Stopped a couple places to pray and simply drink in the beauty.

As we talked, she mentioned, “I look forward to the day when everything is green again.”

I said, “It is green! Everywhere.”

“I’m not color-blind,” she immediately responded.

“I understand what you are saying, dear, but I already see it as green.” Then it hit me. I pondered and as we kept walking, I said, “I think often we are prophecy-blind like being color-blind. We don’t see things by faith as if they already are!”

…uncovered…

Yesterday’s Torah portion, Korach (Numbers 16-18), offered an interesting thought regarding some recent posts on my blog. We have been and will continue discussing headship and God’s instituted authority structures. The name of yesterday’s portion was ‘Korach’ after the man who led a rebellion against the leadership of Moses and Aaron.

Korach means ‘bald.’ As in, ‘uncovered.’ Both of the last two week’s portions can be summed up as ‘God’s judgment against those who rebel against His appointed authority.’ The result is stepping out from under His covering.

Scary stuff! Will we be fully submitted to Him and His ways, or do we negotiate and rebel? Israel wanted to return to Egypt claiming it was the ‘Land flowing with milk and honey.’ Korach wanted to institute his own tabernacle and priesthood. The people were generally grumbling against Moses and Aaron, and by extension, the Angel of the Lord, leading them in the wilderness.

33 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you:  And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.  And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.  Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord God.  And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:  And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

Ezekiel 20:33-38

Will we rebel or come to total submission? Only one option will reap the reward of the Kingdom.

Selah.

Hating my brother…

Lately, I have found a new use for YouVersion.  Call me slow, but it only took me about two months to figure out that they have added an audio icon allowing the Scriptures to be heard instead of (or simultaneously while) read.  The benefit for me is that I spend hours on the road each week with my job and I can much more easily redeem the time.

About ten days ago I started listening to Jeremiah and just let it run.  I turn it on as soon as I get on the road and pause it at each work stop.  The result is that by Friday afternoon, I found myself in 1 John, having listened to nearly half of the Bible.  I can’t wait to finish and start over at Genesis.

While my mind may be wandering through many thoughts as I drive, I know Truth is going in and, at the very least, it is being absorbed by my subconscious.  And, this opens a whole ‘nother discussion about the very real physical changes, even at the DNA level (scientifically proven, cue Tzefania Pappas’ presentation at the 3rd Bney Yosef Congress), that occur in the brain based on what we are putting in.  Kelly, my wife, would offer a supporting opinion based on Switch ON Your Brain, by Dr. Caroline Leaf.  But, I digress.

So, early Friday afternoon I wrapped up my week’s drive while listening to Ephesians through 2 Peter, then interestingly, our Shabbat gathering Continue reading “Hating my brother…”

Ruth, Jordan and the Balm of Gilead

A few weeks ago, I stumbled across a blog and the first couple posts jumped out at me.  They spoke directly to some areas where the Father has been teaching me.  The beauty of this blog is that it is a sabra telling her story of ministry to the heart of God and a wound that we unwittingly exacerbate by picking sides.

I pray you will take the time to not only read the first three posts in Orna Grinman‘s current series, but also take the time to peruse her blog.  Read her story, and pray for this dear sister that is on the cutting edge of healing and restoration for kol Israel!

And, as a side note….  I am so excited that during Sukkot she is going to be the guest of Ani Yosef one evening to come and share with us!  I can’t wait!!

Here are those three posts:

Part 1: Crossing Over – A Hebrew

Part 2: You Look Like a Ruth

Part 3: It is Being Produced Again

May Abba bless you as you absorb and ponder what HE is speaking about the region!!

The everlasting Word!

When this was written, what commandments was the author or Author referring to? Just our verses later:

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5

Maybe it should read, “trust in the Word with all your heart and lean not on your own doctrines.”

The Lord will not violate His Word. His Word reveals Him. When we filter His Word through doctrines and our own understanding, we are no longer trusting Him, rather we are trusting the men that tell us what the Word says.

The Word is simple. His commandments are not burdensome.

My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

Back to Basics: Reflecting on the New Covenant

I woke this morning pondering the New Covenant, and once coffee was made and poured, I sat to reread it.  I was draw to begin reading at Jeremiah 30:18 to be reminded of the context and who the players are.  This is a good opportunity for us to go back to the basics.

Christian theology centers on the New Covenant.  We recognize Yeshua/Jesus as declaring that He is instituting this New Covenant, but we do not pursue the matter to a full understanding of the implications.  So, let’s take a few minutes and be reminded of what Scripture says it means to be part of the New Covenant.

First, Yeshua and Paul’s use of the term,

Luke 22:17 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, “Take this and share it among yourselves; 18 for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 20 And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.

I Corinthians 11:23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

Christendom hangs its proverbial hat on these verses, but the vast majority, pastors included, do not know Continue reading “Back to Basics: Reflecting on the New Covenant”

Come!!  Let us go up!!

All across Christendom there is an amazing, Spirit-directed,  Torah awakening going on.  The goal of Yehovah, according to Scripture,  is the restoration of the Kingdom!

The house of Israel’s rebellion was not against the house of Judah, but against the house of David.  See 1 Kings 12:19.  In coming to Yeshua Ben David, we  begin to heal this divide, but there is a next and greater step of allegiance:

If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the Lord at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their Lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah.
1 Kings 12:27 KJV

Do you really want to take steps toward restoring the Kingdom?  Do you really, really want to see Messiah on the throne?

Then, here is the answer: make personal sacrifice and begin going to Jerusalem for the feasts…  even if just once every year or two!!  Help others get to the feasts.  Send fellowship/congregational representatives!!

GO UP!!!

On that note, stay tuned for an opportunity to go up for Pesach and the 3rd B’ney Yosef Congress.  Details in the next day or two…

Under Construction. Home Fellowships.

Abba is doing amazing things as He awakens His people to the roots of their faith and what it means to walk as Yeshua walked.

We have been doing some remodeling to update and improve the interior of this 80+ year old home.  Still, Shabbat comes and we were hosting this week.  So, Friday afternoon we frantically removed tools, lumber, drywall, etc and

cleaned/vacuumed in anticipation of facilitating fellowship here.

Here are a couple pics from our home Shabbat gathering.  It is not always this big, but we are happy to host whoever He brings and yesterday was an amazing day of fellowship, midrash and worship.

Here we are gathering and getting situated…

Then, worship and dance.  (Yes, we managed to squeeze a dance circle in!!)  Boys seated on the scaffold used to drywall the 10′ ceilings… projector taped to boxes on top of the scaffold aimed at a sheet hastily tacked on the wall…

Notice the biggest blessing in the room??  Teenagers outnumbered adults almost 2:1!!!  Total numbers were about 50 Heebs.

We spent about two hours in worship and discussion of the Torah portion before breaking to eat and the fellowship spilled outside into the cooling evening until about 10 pm when families packed up to head home.

Abba is doing something amazing in our day.  We need only be willing to be used and be bridge builders among His people, facilitating and letting Him guide and direct.

I encourage you out there, find and get in fellowship. Then, as it grows and the Father leads, be willing to facilitate a group.  You do not need special degrees or training.  The Holy Spirit brought you this far…  read, study and let Abba lead!!  Seek peace and unity in all love and humility.  This is where you will find the Father’s blessing!
