PS 119: 142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy Torah is truth.
Human based truth can change, however the truth of God’s Word is unchanging. Can the truth of God’s Word be made more or less true?
When Paul says, in 2 Timothy 3,
16 Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, “
Is some Scripture more profitable than other? When he wrote that, he wasn’t talking about any of the ‘ new’ testament…. What Scripture was he talking about for training in righteousness?
25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.
Is Deuteronomy, or the Torah less true than the Gospels or Pauline letters?
How about this: can one ‘truth’ in God’s Word abolish or overide another without an explicit declaration of such? As an example,
Exodus 31:16-17 says,
16 The Israelites must keep the Sabbath by observing the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.
17 It is a sign between me and the Israelites forever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.’”
God never changes this command in Scripture. It is truth. Has it changed? Says, who?
Another thought: if truth is unchanging and all Scripture is truth, why do pastors spend 80% of their time in the back third of the Book and less than 20% in the front two-thirds? Is that the way you were taught to read a story or watch a movie? Maybe that’s how you build a house… the second story first. Riiigghhhtttt….
Here’s another truth from Scripture: Regarding Passover,
Exodus 12:14 This day will become a memorial for you, and you will celebrate it as a festival to the LORD – you will celebrate it perpetually as a lasting ordinance.
Confirmed in Leviticus 23:14,
14 You must not eat bread, roasted grain, or fresh grain until this very day, until you bring the offering of your God. This is a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all the places where you live.
When did this stop being ‘truth?’ Does your pastor say this is profitable for doctrine and training in righteousness? Paul does. He even tells us to ‘keep the feast…’. Look it up. Does your pastor?
Here are three truths the Christian must contend with, contrary to church doctrine (tradition!):
- The Torah is everlasting, unchanging Truth and the standard of righteousness (Psalm 119:142)
- The Torah will be the Messiah’s standard in the millennium (Isaiah 2:3)
- The Torah is what will be written on hearts when the New Covenant is fulfilled (Jer. 31:33)
