Most of us know that when Yeshua/Jesus was tempted of the adversary after fasting for 40 days, the Messiah’s response was Scripture. But do we notice every quote is from Deuteronomy? The Covenant?
Check it out: Deuteronomy 8:3; 6:16; 6:13 and 10:20.
So, while pondering that recently, another thought occurred to me.
3 He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord. Deut. 8:3
‘Man lives by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of Yahweh!’
Churchianity constantly pits Paul against Moses, Jesus against God, Law against Grace, etc… I was a pastor. I did it… Not intentionally or willfully, mind you. It was the way I was taught!! (I have years of sunday School, sermons and seminary to UNlearn… )
So here is Yeshua, being tempted by THE adversary, and quoting Torah. But not just any book, He is using THE Covenant and quoting from THE section articulating obedience to THE Commandments!! And, He quotes Yahweh as saying, ‘Man lives by EVERY word.’
How often do we stop and ponder the significance of what this says? The Torah is breathed of Yah and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and training in righteousness. EVERY word of it.
Now, I know, there are people reading this and saying, ‘Yeah, I believe that, but only in so far as the ‘general principle’ of what it teaches. It isn’t REALLY what we have to do. Paul changed all that…” And, you are heading to the new Testament to find verses that you can pit against the very WORDS of YAHWEH!! As if Paul trumps the unchanging Word of the Father…
Suffice it to say, you do NOT believe the WORD of Yahweh that Yeshua quoted. You prefer the traditions of men and, instead of trying to reconcile Paul to Yahweh, you take a twisted version of Paul OVER Yahweh… In that is DEATH!!
Example: Yahweh, seven times in Torah, tells us in one form or another, ‘Keep the Sabbath holy!!’ He clearly defines the Sabbath as the seventh day. (Check your calendar and see what day is the seventh…) Paul, in the Book of Acts, never teaches on any day other than the Sabbath, reasoning with both Jew and Gentile in the synagogues, yet christendom twists him and sets him against the direct and very explicit command of the Father in order to justify SUNday worship.
Another example: Yahweh explicitly tells us NOT to worship him as the pagan nations do. Yet, christendom teaches ‘christmas’ and ‘easter,’ both holy-days that come directly out of pagan roots!!
Examples abound… But, let’s cut to the chase!
You want LIFE? Then I suggest:
- Acknowledge before Yahweh that you have NOT taken Him at His WORD and repent.
- Ask HIM to teach you TRUTH and reveal the errors of men you have knowingly or unknowingly absorbed.
- Set aside ALL christian doctrine and commentaries for a while and spend time in JUST the WORD.
- Be willing to take a very hard look at traditions and doctrine. Consider the Resources page on this blog as a place to simply get fodder for your study. Don’t trust anything, even on my blog, but verify for yourself against Scripture!!
What Yeshua said is, ‘man shall LIVE by EVERY word that proceeds from the mouth of Yahweh!’ You want to live? Better start studying the front of the book, because it is still in effect!
I had planned a nice, short, thoughtful post, but got fired up. It is not my intent to wound anyone, but I desire to awaken people to the fulness of TRUTH! I pray that even if you are radically challenged by this post, you will take the time to wrestle with it! There is peace and HUGE blessing when you awaken and begin to swim against the tide of tradition.
Yahweh bless you, and keep you;
Yahweh make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;Yahweh lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace.
Shalom!
Stay fired up…His blazing furnace can only refine!

I am so glad there are some who will preach the Scripture in its entirety, rather than Scripture -The Great Salad Bar. To many, it comes as a shock (because we simply aren’t taught) that Paul, like Jesus, would have used the Old Testament to teach and reprove the church. Paul wouldn’t have affirmed his teaching by his own letters, which we have the privilege of reading today. They weren’t even canonized. So, why do we hold higher esteem for things written after Jesus’ life, than those He used Himself as He walked the earth? Surely, all Scripture is God-breathed, and Jesus felt it was worthy… When we come across a “difficult” teaching, we ought to rejoice and dig in! This is the Father drawing us closer and allowing us the opportunity to find the gems He has lovingly concealed. It is the glory of God, and our honor!
