Grafted in? Then what?

Rav Shaul, in Ephesians 2 says,

“…remember that you were at that time separate from Messiah, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Messiah Yeshua you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Messiah….So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of Yahweh’s household,..”

If you are grafted into Messiah, then you are a no longer an alien, but one who sojourns with Israel.

Rav Shaul, in Ephesians 4, continues;

“…There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.”

Therefore,

The same Torah shall apply to the native as to the stranger who sojourns among you.

Exodus 12:49

Got Torah?

Ponder this today.

…Prayer is an abomination.

He who turns away his ear from listening to the Torah,
Even his prayer is an abomination.

Proverbs 28:9

The word ‘listening’ is from the Hebrew word ‘shamah’ of the same origin as ‘shema’ meaning ‘listen and obey.’

Ponder this.

Two Witnesses that Stand!! (See for yourself…)

Deuteronomy 30 is an amazing chapter.

I won’t even dig into the first four verses that promise Yahweh will restore His people to the land and have compassion on us when we return to Him and obey His commandments….  I’ll save that post for later.

I won’t drone on about how He promises to prosper abundantly in body, offspring, produce etc, (vss. 8-10) those who keep His commandments and statutes….  That’ll make another good post in the future.

I won’t bother to show verses 15 and 16 that speak of the life and prosperity given for keeping all of His commandments…  Just too much good stuff in this chapter.

Instead, I want to introduce you to the two witnesses Continue reading “Two Witnesses that Stand!! (See for yourself…)”

Delight is in what??

Psalm 1: 1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 BUT his delight is in the Torah of the Lord,
And in His Torah he meditates day and night.
He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.

The wicked are not so,
But they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the wicked will perish.

Blessings follow obedience to the Torah.  (See also Deu. 30:15-20; Ps. 119:1-2; James 1:25 among others…)

Yoke’s on you….

We have laying hens and the standby, ‘yolk’s on you…’ joke never gets old.

Well, the ‘yoke’ indeed is on you!!

How often I have heard ‘yoke of the Law….’  And Acts 15:10 gets quoted.

Well, this evening I saw something that was very interesting. Continue reading “Yoke’s on you….”

Taking out the Leaven…

On pondering the Days of Unleavened, it occurred to me that we do not focus enough on removing the leaven of Hollywood* from our lives. Yeshua spoke of leaven as the little sins that affect the whole lump. If we are to be a kadosh/set apart lump for Him, and our pursuit is holiness, then we should really consider the leaven of Hollywood.

During these days of house cleaning, let us focus on removing the leaven of video games, secular music, movies and TV shows. Even the seemingly innocuous ones. Hollywood ‘programming’ is just that. Programming. Hollywood seeks to influence culture and steer us toward ever lower moral standards.

Besides just getting us ‘out of Babylon.’ we need to focus on the harder task of getting Babylon out of us.

Rav Shaul writes, “Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened of sincerity and truth.” (1 Cor. 5:6-8)

Shalom, Pete

*Hollywood used here as a euphemism for all of Babylon’s culture which Hollywood has a substantial hand in shaping.

Do you believe Moses?

46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for he wrote about Me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?”

Yeshua, John 5:46-47

Seems this Torah stuff might be more important than my pastor led me to believe….

Tzitzits. A sign…

1342207464If you have done any research trying to understand the Hebrew roots of your faith, you have no doubt run into information on tzitzits.

Most everyone focuses on the commandment in Numbers 15:37-40 as a way of reminding themselves and others of the commandments, or mitzvot of our God.

Certainly, this is central, but lately Abba has placed His grace on me in another way as He reveals a secondary aspect of blessing from simple obedience.  What blessings?  Let me share!! Continue reading “Tzitzits. A sign…”
