Why Christendom MUST rethink evangelizing Jews.

Have you ever wondered why God divided Israel?  By that I mean, what was His purpose?  And, what does that purpose have to do with the respective roles of Judah and Ephraim?  Further, how does this relate to evangelizing/missionizing?  All of these are interesting and progressively more serious questions that challenge some of our established (inherited) thought patterns.  So, let’s explore some recent ponderings I have had.  We may not answer all of the questions, but we can begin to wrestle with a new level of understanding.

mizpahAt the Second B’ney Yosef Congress, Tommy and Dorothy Wilson led the Shabbat midrash from the first Genesis portion, focusing on Adam and Chava in the second and third chapters.  We considered that at the completion of creation, it was ‘tov meod,’ ‘very good,’ yet, just a few verses later we see that God says, ‘it is not good that the man should be alone…’  Adam was complete within himself, perfect, however there was something more that God wanted to do to display His glory to and in Creation.  Thus, He reached into Adam and drew out a part of him that was then fashioned into Chava, the help-meet and partner.

The Creation Story is about dividing and bringing together.  We see in day one a separation and gathering of light from darkness.  Day two waters of earth and sky are separated and gathered.  Day three water and earth are separated and gathered.

Each of these separations and gatherings shows us something of the majesty of Creation and thus the majesty of the Creator.  If we had only light, we could not see the magnificent stars and Continue reading “Why Christendom MUST rethink evangelizing Jews.”

Dividing and Gathering

20161029_165208During last week’s Torah Portion, Tommy and Dorothy Wilson, while leading the Shabbat discussion at the Second B’ney Yosef Congress, made a statement that I found very interesting and insightful.  Of course, the Portion was Bresheit and their focus was on the creation and fall of Adam and Chava.

As we read the Portion, we noted the dividing and bringing together of light and dark into one day, the dividing of waters below waters and the sky, then the dividing of waters and land, etc, etc.  In each case, the dividing revealed something and the bringing together revealed something else in how each relates to the other and how together he parts reveal aspects of the Creator.

This process culminates in the dividing out of Chava from Adam.  He was perfect, yet, Abba chose to divide him, taking Chava out of him and then immediately bringing the two back together.  We know, quite well, that men and women are different and that each reveals different aspects of the Father.  Man and woman started as one, were divided.  Fell in rebellion and are in the process of being restored.

All of this we know.  Continue reading “Dividing and Gathering”

Interview and Presentation by Batya Wooten

While outwardly, B’ney Yosef North America (BYNA) has been pretty quiet, I can tell you from first hand participation, there has been MUCH going on.  I am very encouraged at the happenings in spite of many challenges we have faced in our first few months of existence.  Truly, Abba is doing something very special.

The BYNA website finally has a dedicated team that will be making regular updates and postings with news, articles, videos, etc…  Keep an eye on it for information.  Also, the National Shabbat website is growing as are the number of places participating!!  This has been an incredibly blessed step in the direction of reconciliation and restoration.  Register and participate!!  Lastly, look for information on an initiative we are taking this Elul for the 40 days of repentance…

Now, here is an excellent interview and presentation by Batya Wooten assembled from a couple pieces of footage at the 2016 Summit in St. Petersburg, FL.  Watch this and be blessed!!

Two House: the mechanism, not the end result

Today is South Carolina National Shabbat and we are hosting the Washburn Family from Tennessee as they will be providing the music.  They got in yesterday evening and we had a blessed erev Shabbat hanging around the firepit.

The Washburns, as agreed, brought the challah, so when it came to that point in our simple setting apart of the day, I asked Tom to lead in  blessing the bread and the Bread of Life.  He held the bread up and began, “I am not a ‘two house’ person.  I am ‘one house’ because two house was never the Father’s will.  Sin is what caused two houses and the Father is bringing restoration!”

And, I could not agree more! Continue reading “Two House: the mechanism, not the end result”

Two House… Unavoidable conclusion.

image

Twice in the last couple days I have run into well-meaning individuals who denigrated the ‘Two House’ understanding of Scripture.

I realize, God has to open eyes and bring understanding, but at the same time, it is frustrating to deal with people who haven’t even taken the time to do something very simple:

-take a sheet of paper
-divide it into two columns
-label one column Continue reading “Two House… Unavoidable conclusion.”

Tzefanyah has just set up a dedicated National Shabbat site that will help connect and inform the nation concerning National Shabbat events.  Besides SC and North GA events, we hear a National Shabbat is in the works in South Central TX as well as possibly AZ.  Stay tuned, or better yet, get involved!!

The Summit is just about three weeks away!  Time is flying and pieces are coming together.  Pray Abba brings those HE wants there and that He prepare us to do the work we feel He is leading us into.

We covet your prayers!!

Is Ezekiel 37 Being Fulfilled Right Before Our Eyes?

About a week ago, I introduced Commonwealth of Yisrael to you.  Following is an article about the project with many comments by co-founder, Kellen Davison.  As a matter of full disclosure and to help my readers put pieces together there are three items you need to know:

  • I am on the board of Commonwealth of Yisrael and covet your fervent prayer as we undertake this project.
  • I am heavily involved in the leadership of B’ney Yosef North America (BYNA), a fledgling organization that seeks to bring unity to the House of Joseph in North America as part of a larger project that is international!  All readers in North America should be considering getting involved with BYNA as I indirectly represent them to Commonwealth of Yisrael.  (Strength in numbers…)
  • My stance and that of BYNA is that those of us from the nations who seek to be united to Judah as part of Kol Yisrael only have rights through the restored covenant in Messiah Yeshua, He who came for the lost sheep of the House of Yisrael.  I.e., We will not deny Him and He comes with us… (More on this later.)

Is Ezekiel 37 Being Fulfilled Right Before Our Eyes?

“’And thou, son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it: For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions; then take another stick, and write upon it: For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and of all the house of Israel his companions; and join them for thee one to another into one stick, that they may become one in thy hand.” (Ezekiel 37:16-17)

During the recent Jewish holidays in September 2015, the Reconciliation with Israel Conference in Jerusalem, hosted by Kellen Davison, focused on recognizing the commonalities and addressing the areas that divide the two Abrahamic religions: Judaism and Christianity. As a result of conclusions made at the conference, Davison initiated the Commonwealth of Yisrael Project to help non-Jews join together in their common goal of bringing the Messiah Ben David, alongside the Jewish people, in a way that is mutually acceptable, conforming to Jewish law and Christian beliefs, and beneficial to all concerned.

The Commonwealth of Yisrael Project is intended to bring together non-Jews that love the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and recognize God’s eternal covenant with Israel, unifying them with each other and connecting them with the Jews. Davison spoke to Breaking Israel News, explaining that in order to succeed, the project must focus on the strong points that join people together.

A Reward Worth Pursuing…

I was only in the US Army for about four years, IMG_20160128_180358573but was blessed to attend multiple special skills schools as well as a nice variety of deployments to several parts of the globe.  When Napolean Bonaparte said, “a soldier will fight long and hard for a bit of colored ribbon,” he might have been speaking of me.  No question, I loved the challenge of hard schools and difficult duties.  In a twisted way, suffering is fun.  It separates the men from the posers.

In spite of the fact that I recognize those bits of colored ribbon fade and will eventually be destroyed by fire, I still pine for those days of testosterone, sweat and tears.  Maybe it’s just the way I’m wired.

Being wired that way, though, is not necessarily a bad thing…  Maybe it has usefulness for the Kingdom.  Throughout Scripture, over and over, we witness God taking simple and seemingly insignificant men and women to do significant works.  We remember Gideon, David, Ruth, Esther, Josiah, etc.  The list could go on and on.

Well, you and I, though we may feel insignificant in a world gone mad, live in a time of history wherein it is clear God is raising up men and women from among the ‘nobodys’ and ‘who is thats’ to do an amazing work in our day.  But, what ‘bit of colored ribbon’ motivates us to fight long and hard?

You may think, ‘I don’t need no stinking ribbon…’, but Scripture actually speaks of an everlasting reward and acknowledgement that is well worth pursuing.  Continue reading “A Reward Worth Pursuing…”
