Ever noticed some verses can have totally different meanings, depending on whose perspective or lens you read it through?
5 Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My [a]own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; Exodus 19:5
Christendom sees,
5 Now
then, if you will indeedobey My voiceand keep My covenant,then you shall be My [a]own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine;
They have and speak of the ‘Spirit.’
Judaism sees,
5 Now then, if you will
indeed obey My voice andkeep My covenant, then you shall be My [a]own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine;
And, for 3500 years years they have been pretty good at keeping the covenant, a.k.a., keeping the commandments. Psalm 119 says the Torah is TRUTH!
However, Abba Yahweh’s perspective is,
5 Now then, IF you will indeed obey My voice AND keep My covenant, THEN you shall be My [a]own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine;
Hmmmm….
Seriously! Revelation 12:17 and 14:12 both say that His people are the ones who keep the commandments of God AND have the testimony/faith of Yeshua! Spirit AND Truth!
In fact, over and over the Scriptures point us to both, Spirit and Truth! Torah and Yeshua! Faith and works!
(No, works don’t save, but they evidence the faith and they are clearly defined by the everlasting covenant!)
Do you hear His voice AND keep His commandments?
Selah.
Please complete the quotation. It goes, “…and you shall be to me a holy nation, and a kingdom of priests..”Judaism has never done this. And there is another contradiction. The missionary movement began in 1780, and the missionaries have been priests to the people wherever they went. Look at the role of priests, and see what they actually did. The roles are now very widespread, no longer all the roles with any one person, but widely spread. “You shall be my witnesses…” Why is 1780 important? It is exactly 2520 years from the first of the captivities of Israel. (Acts 1:8ff). I agree that the law will not cease (Rom 3:20), and also the words of Jesus.
What is really happening is that followers of Jesus are starting to throw off the bondage of Rome, and come into the fulness.

We’ve looked at the rest of the quote on multiple occasions. I haven’t attached dates… though, 1780 would be hard to nail down as ‘the’ date. Witnesses have been going out all along. See the Waldensians, the Hussites, Wycliffe’s outreaches, etc…
My point is simply that neither Christian or Jew has it right. The better answer lies in the middle of their two positions, and from God’s perspective, actually doing it not just saying it.

Gen 4:7
If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door.
The first “IF” of 1,595 times of 1,420 verses. Big word.
The last “IF” Rev 22:19
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

When did Israel actually become the people of YHVH?
Look at and read Deut. 26:16 – 27:10 and note that in verse 26:17 and 27:10 we find “obey His voice.
Verse 27:9 is where they are actually declared “this day (zeh yom) thous at become (hayah) the people of YHVH thy Eloheim”
Wow! The actions of both the first and second generations looked the same; but the second generation actually “heard His voice” not just the voice of Moses.

Great word here, Pete.
Equally cool is when Yeshua says the same thing:
IF you continue in my word, THEN you will are truly my disciples, AND you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. John 8:31
