The BIG Letdow… er, Announcement

The Temple Institute has made their announcement after a major buildup, and it wasn’t so big….  My warning, concerning the eventual building of an altar, stands but does not apply here.

So, here are the details of the announcement:

And Now for the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

I very much agree with Peter Vest’s short comments on this post: The 10th Red Heifer: Understanding the Significance of the Red Heifer to the Rabbis of the Temple Institute

Bottom-line:  This is a major letdown and, like my son said, “This will cause the next buildup to receive little attention, ‘crying wolf’ as it were.”

  1. Just a question posed from a quote from an article by Geofrey Grider, July 12, 2015 Titled Temple Institute in Jerusalem Israel Releases Their Blockbuster Major Announcement …….I’m just wondering, Is this endeavor of Yah or of man? Just a question?……….

“For this unprecedented project, the Temple Institute has joined forces with an experienced cattle rancher here in Israel. This expert in the science of animal husbandry, under the halachic supervision and guidance of the rabbis of the Temple Institute, is utilizing the technique of implanting the frozen embryos of Red Angus cattle in Israeli domestic cattle. The end result of this program will be the introduction of the Red Angus breed into Israel. This method, authorized and approved by Israel’s Ministry of Agriculture, has already proven successful with the birth of a number of male Red Angus”.

    1. I would ask, “Was the formation of Israel a work of God or of man?” Honestly, I do think the manipulation may be taken a little far with implanting embryos, which leads to the interesting question of how halachic law can be adjusted to do what they want to do… So, that is an issue as well.

A more interesting question asked here by visiting friend, Travis Hughey, is, “Where in the Torah does it say the red heifer has to be without a single white hair?” Now, I understand trying to bring the absolute very best, but how much of the ‘standard’ is tradition v. clear commandment?

In toto, Abba’s gonna do what Abba does and it is fun to watch as markers in eschatology, but I don’t worry about it…

  2. We have pastures full of red heifers every year. Wonder if it’s one of them! 😉 AI’ing 220 Corriente cows to Red Eddard from Scotland and implanting four of his embryos into some of our red angus cows. Wonder if it’ll be any of them!!! This looks like a money-collecting scam to me. But i am a bit cynical.
